SIALKOT: The Government o
f Punjab (GoP) imposed a ban on hunting, caging, and selling of bird ‘Lali’ in the province.
The ban had been imposed through a letter written by Additional Chief Secretary Azam Sultan
Khan to all deputy commissioners o
f Punjab, under Section 144 (6)
Criminal Procedure Code 1898.
The letter stated it had been reported that t
here was huge surge in skin diseases of dairy animals due to heavy infestation of ticks and blood para
sites in skins.
The said bird used to eat ticks and blood para
sites from skins of dairy animals. The ban will continue till September 30, the letter added.
